WinXP Pro OEM activate?

How many time is it set up for you to activate the Windows OEM? i reformat my harddrive every 6month at least (just to get rid of crap and make things nice and quick).

I already had to call MS once before becuase i update my mobo, this is getting really old!!

So is there an actually amount of times written down somewhere in the amount of times i can activate my windows? It tells me this p-key has been activated too many times and i need to enter a new one.

Thoughts?

Where is the OEM copy from? Many of the major manufacturer (i.e. Dell) have their OEM licenses setup with SLP pre-activation on the discs. You can install it using their disk on their hardware and you dont have to enter a key or activate; but if you try and install anywhere else (or with any other media) it wont let you activate online at all (you must call it in).

Why don't you just make images of an updated install with your basic progs and when your system gets too full of crap just restore the image and you won't have to activate. Faster than a reinstall too

THe OEM is from MSDNAA -- It is a program though my univeristy

Tiap, that is a good idea but it seems i usally have a piece of hardchange durning the 6-months and i like to have a fresh set of drivers when installing new hardware.
