WinXP Pro install problems! Help please

Hi,

I have just finished upgrading my comp from a PIII to A64 with a new mobo(Chaintech VNF3-250).

I have a simple setup..nothing complicated right now:

- Two HDs - small ones
- Vid Card - Savaga AGP 4x
- 2x CDRoms

Now, when I go to install WinXP Pro, it goes through the whole process of copying files over and then says it can't copy certain files..like "clspack.exe" and others. After googling, I found that this file and the rest of the files are related to Java thingies.

My CD is not scratched at all. It is brand new. This is WinXP Pro with SP1.

So far I have skipped those files and going ahead with install...just wondering if I should be concerned about these files and if my XP will be stable or not.

ANyone know the cause of this?? Is it cause of AMD Proc?? Btw, the HD was completely formated(Long one).

Any time I have ever experienced something similar was with either a dirty disk, or the system was unstable due to memory timings too tight, or processor overclocked beyond stability.

Is your disk genuine Microsoft or a home made slipstream?

genuine winxp pro sp1.

I haven't changed any of the memory timings or oc'ed anything. Curious...win xp seems to work ok right now at least without those numerous files.

Well you get 2 free tech support calls with it, so maybe you should call them and tell them about it, and maybe they will send you a new disk. That one may be a corrupted copy.
