WinXP Pro - how do I remove all codecs?

There seems to be a codec on my machine that is causing my videos and audios to play like they have static. But I try this same video or audio on another machine with just the divx 5 codec and it plays flawlessly. So some my WinXP Pro machine seems to be causing this. I wanted to know how to remove all of my available sound codecs completely or the troublesome codec and start almost fresh. Any ideas.
