WinXP Pro- Disk Cleanup never goes anywhere...

Right, so Im using WinXP Pro. When I run disk cleanup on my main hard drive, it just hangs there with 3 bars in the progress bar... ive left it like that for 24 hours to no avail.

any clue what it may be sticking on, or how to get around it?

ive tried the cleanup in Norton Systemworks, but after browsing around my WINDOWS directory it doesnt seem to touch some things that cleanup 'cleans up'.

if we cant fix this, is there maybe another application that performs as well that i can try out?

didnt think to go to the ol' knowledge base 'cause i usually just get pissed off at its crappy searching options..
