WinXP Pauses before starting IE, outlook?

I am running winxp on a dell 8100 (p3-m 1.13ghz, 512mb pc133) and all of a sudden my computer pauses now before opening IE or outlook (and some other programs)

I am running winbar which shows my cpu usage to be the normal 0,1 or 2% (same as when it is idle) during the 10--15 second pause. The HD light on my computer goes solid indicating HD activity, and it seems the computer is looking for or scanning for something before allowing me to open the program.

Finally after te 10-15 seconds the program opens. If i close it an try to open it again, same crap happens.

anyone know what this could be?

I also am running zonealarm, norton antivirus, and AIM most of the time - but I haven't made any changes to my system recently. I have been running these programs since i've had the computer and IE and outlook used to open almost instantly.

My guess is that i'll have to reinstall office, and if that doesnt work, reinstall XP (and if that doesnt work, do a clean install - which i'd rather not deal with)

well, "cryptnet.dll" was corrupted, in case anyone else has this problem...

just copy an old version or one from the cd, internet, etc, and the problems fixed
