I have two pc's with win xp on a basic home lan, both pc's have a 10/100 pci card as far as I know both have the auto sensing for the speed, and I have a 10/100 four way hub, the network conection only runs at 10mbps and it doesn't change to the full 100, before when I had win 98se I had no problem as far as speed, this sucks, can someone help me out, I tried to manually change the speed on the nic card from the control panel on both to 100 full duplex and even 100 half duplex all the network does then id disable itself, if I go back and set the cards to auto the it see the network again and it conects them at 10mbps.

If your 10Mbps Internet service is connected to the hub directly, then all ports will be running at 10Mbps. If you've got a router in between, then the router probably has a 100Mbps LAN port, so it won't cause the hub to run at 10Mbps. A hub's ports can only run at the lowest common capable speed.

yea, men I just figured out, the netgear hub I have is a 10baseT , shoot 10 is the highest Im gonna get ,...lol I guess I go buy me a switch. thanks guys.
