Anyone ever try this? I'll have WinXP on my 1st hdd, and I would like to install FreeBSD on a 2nd hdd - just wondering if WinXP will recognize the Unix OS, and allow me to choose on startup. Thanks for any advice / suggestions.

I dont know if WinXP's bootloader thingy will work with FreeBSD. Do a search in this forum for information on dualbooting. There is a program that is mentioned every so often for adding boot information for other OSes to Window's boot.ini. See if that program can do it. Welcome to the forums.

I've never used FreeBSD, but I have a similar setup with Linux and Windows 2000. I installed the Linux bootloader on the MBR(the Windows drive) and I use it to select what OS to boot. I don't know specifics about the FreeBSD bootloader, but Grub(the Linux bootloader I use) has tons of useful features that the Windows bootloaders lack. I hope this was helpful.

I have FBSD on one hard drive, and XP on another, but I did it so that their MBR's wouldn't mess with eachother... Though XP's boot loader wouldn't load FBSD anyway...

FBSD will recognize XP though, I'm sure you can tweak it to boot to the other drive...

Thanks for the tips ... it figures that WinXP won't recognize BSD huh? Well that is too bad, but maybe I can figure something out. Thanks again!
