WinXP not recognizing netbeui files-why?

I post again to make the problem as clear as possible .... We all know the procedure of installing Netbeui in WinXP-trouble is that although I copy the two files in the relevant system folders, the protocol doesn't appear when I click "install" in a connection's networking properties 😕
What could cause this? It's sth that everyone running XP does without a glitch but not me...Could the files taken from the XP cd be corrupted some way? Would installing XP over from the cd (like "upgrading") help fix the issue?? Is it possible at first?

Did you try and copy the contents/folder for Netbeui off the cd and onto your drive before trying to install it? Maybe your CD or Rom are flakey.
