WinXP .NET frame initialization error

I am trying to execure one application on winXP. I am getting .NET framwork initialization error

"Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application"

I updated .NET with latest version still same error. Any help, please

What's the application? Have you tried uninstalling the .NET framework completely and reinstalling it? Have you ran "sfc /scannow" with your Windows CD in the CD/DVD drive?
