Uh...I don't recall anything about a mouse acceleration problem anywhere. Could be wrong though.

i dunno if this is applicable but all of my problem with my mouse in XP were fixed by activating the "enhanse point presision" option in the mouse control panel. i belive that this make XP use some sort of mouse accelleration enhansement.

This is really bad news.. i thought SP1 would've fixed it for sure.

I know bushwakko on these forums had the same problem, as many others. Here's a couple of threads with people experiencing the same problem.

Okey, so, the problem is, mouse acceleration cannot be disabled in games, UT2k3,UT,CS,Q3,Q2 etc
Mouse acceleration makes it pretty much impossible to play an fps-game. Moving the mouse very quickly results in 360 spins. It can however be disabled outside games by disabling "enhance pointer precision".

I don't wanna revert to Win2k just because this.. Oh, and please don't let this thread die. :)

I don't know if this applies to your problem but while I was over at TweakXP,I noticed this new tip recently posted for ps/2 mouse.

I have a similar problem. Whne using my intellimouse explorer and the latest Intellipoint software and drivers. The ability to set mouse acceleration no longer exists. In version 3.X of the mouse software there were 2 options for mose speed:

1. Pointer Speed
2. Pointer Acceleration

With versions 4.X of the software it seems accelleration is gone which really sucks because I have 2 19 inch monitors and used to enjoy going from screen to screen quickly.

Time for an update. Indeed the bug is still there, even after SP1. Damn you M$! :(

Anyways.. i spoke to a friend that knows someone at MS, and according to him, the problem is not a little bug, but a serious one that has to do with the directx-engine itself. Therefor, a "fix" would take serious time and effort from MS's side. Not likely they will adress it.

This sucks :(

Guess i'm back to Win2k.

Hmmm..Can't say that it has really been a problem for me. I allways just speed up or slow down mouse sensitivity within the game(advanced controls or just under controls) to my prefered taste. With the Half-life series, I allways had to speed it up..With NOLF2, Max Payne, QuakeIII, I had to slow it down or it just spun around waaayyy too fast. This is with XP, SP1, and Logitech Optical mouse.

BTW..I just noticed that I do not have the option to set pointer acceleration(no biggie to me) and "enhance pointer precision" is checked. Also, I do not use Logitechs' mouse drivers. I feel they add jitteriness when scrolling. Hope this info can help anyone..

Later..
