With the introduction of WINXP they designed it so when you have multiple windows open they'll turn into a tower. There is a fix so that you can have ten or 12 widows open without them turning into a tower of windows.
I've been googling for an hour to find the tweak. I've not used it in 5 years. Does anyone know where I can find this fix?

Thank you in advance for any help. It is appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is right click on the taskbar -> properties -> Group Similar Taskbar buttons. Remove that check mark and they go to each separately instead of grouping all the IE windows or all Firefox windows

Thanks a lot Dahak. That did the trick. The tower of Windows used to drive me crazy. BTW, the last time that I wanted to fix that I had a hack where I had to edit the registry, so thank you for the simple solution.

I did have a program that I wanted to use. I downloaded it from PC Magazine years ago and I have it backed up on disk. I just found out that its use is limited to the following operating systems:Windows 9x, NT, or 2000. I really like it, but oh well. It enables you to place your cursor on the windows in the taskbar and scroll thru the windows by rotating the wheel on your wheelmouse.

It was free, but I see that they are now selling it for $7.97. It says it is version 1.0. That is the one that used to be the free version. If anyone is using one of the supported operating systems, here is a link.

Did you try to install that program? Sometimes you might get lucky trying to install it and it will just work. Compatibility mode might be an option as well.

Yes, I did install it out of habit. I found out it doesn't work. I'm not at home now, so I forgot whether it didn't work in WIN7 or WINXP. I have some WIN98SE machines and I used to enjoy using the task wheel to fly through windows.
