I have a 700mhz Pentium III I want to set up as a DOD Server and a router/firewall.

My thoughts have been using Linux for the stability but I am a Linux idiot. I don't even know how to set up a server in Windows :(. The question here is can I use it in this fashion with RedHat 7.3 and have my other computer use the Internet connection from the linux machine like a router/game server or should I use Windows XP.

The next big question is where are some good resources to find out how to set up a good, reliable and hassle free server?

Thanks

Win2k/WinXP/Linux will all do what you want. The question remains: how much effort do you want to put into setting this up. If you want virtually no hassle, Win2k and WinXP should be for you (unless, you are already a Linux user). Most Linux distro's are pretty easy to setup, get going, etc, so getting that working for your net sharing and HLDS is going work fine. HLDS on Linux works great, but make sure to use the entire "screens" functionality.
