Help guys! Even when I shutdown Windows the proper way, I'm greeted with the same old consistency scan all the time. Could it be that my hdd is faulty? The place where I got my Maxtor 60Gb ATA133 offers a one-to-one change so I would try get it changed as soon as possible.

Thanks!

Do a full scandisk including surface scan from within XP to see if it highlights any bad sectors/errors. If you do, I'd suggest replacing the drive.

What type of HDD drive do you have?? I had a Western Digital 20GB 7200 that did the same to me, but after I bought my new Seagate Barracuda IV 40GB 7200 and fresh loaded XP, I had no problems with disk consistency.
