WinXp ..how to display SECONDS ??

In the taskbar, lower right. I only have hours and minutes ..and AM/PM shown.
I want to see to the seconds as well. How can i do that?
In my Time setting dialog..it is already set to "hh:mm:ss tt"...but still,. it won't display the seconds.
HELP!!!

I don't think you can format the System Tray clock (I could be mistaken). You might be able to find a third-party applet that is more customizable.

I don't believe you can. Then only time you can see the seconds is if you click on the adjust the time date option. I agree you would need a 3rd party app like the one that makes the new taskbar like Windows Longhorn.

As stated above, know of no way to do accomplish this that is inherent to Windows. There are however third party applications that can do this task. This is one that builds itself into the taskbar for seamless integration. No doubt there are other solutions. This would be a step in the right direction, if others are sought.

I believe there is a way.
My school computers running win2000 has the seconds displayed.
So i think winxp is pretty similiar?
Also, thinking about the argument in the Time setting you can give: hh:mm:ss
If you can't do the "ss" part, why would it let you specify the ss???

Forgive the previous response. Accidently replied to this thread, instead of another I happened to be viewing as well.

Would you perhaps be referring to the parameter in the "Regional and Language Options" control panel setting? That would be a system-wide setting, and has little to do with how the taskbar itself will display time and date, other than the general settings.

As a test, I used one of the third party tools found via the search mentioned above. The application is known as TClockEx, and can be found here.

Some visuals of the implementation (all shots of Xp Professional):

• Native Taskbar time. TClockEx has been turned off.

I use DQSD, it's a google search and more... when it's not being used for google search it displays the Day,Month,Year, Time (no seconds though). I use it mostly for the calculator function.... but it also has a calendar view + much much more and it's free. Anyway, give it a shot if you'd like. It's easy enough to add/remove and the weblink above goes into all the details of what it does.

Note: I forgot, should mention there's a probelm with XPSP2 and this app, you'll get security warnings on startup unless you disable some of the SP2 features. There's a blurb about that at the top of the page.
