WinXP Home won't shut down.

I just built a new system with the following components
Antec Sonata 2, w/SP-450 PSU
MSI K8N Neo4-F
Athlon64 3000+
2 sticks of 512 MB, Crucial PC 3200 memory
2 WD 80BG SATA HDD (configured in Raid 1)
Abit Radeon rX300 SE-256HM
Generic CDRW and Floppy

I installed WinXP Home on this system, I've only done the windows install with the appropriate drives for the RAID 1, nothing else. No sound drivers, video drivers etc. Everything works like a champ, the RAID 1 is recogonized by windows and my BIOS says it's "healthy". I have no problems at all except the damn thing refuses to shut down.

I've gone through all the trouble shooting steps suggested by Microsoft to no avail, I've even sacraficed a virgin.......it simply refuses to shut down, even the restarts during the Windows intallation won't work.

If I configure it as a non-RAID system with either one or two drives it works fine. I've been fighting this problem for days now and I've installed windows so many times I could do it asleep. Anybody have any suggestions?
