Change it to what color though? It would automatically change. There is no "clear" setting.
 

Control Panel --> System --> Advanced tab --> click the box of "Show Drop Shadows Under Icons."

hmmm just looked at my own desktop, the background are clear on mine... hmm..

i'm using stylexp btw.

is that option enabled by default? becuz i never touched that option before, and i do not have the same dilemma as nocturnal

Right Click "My Computer" > Properties > Click on the "Advanced" tab > Under "Performance" click settings > Set it to "Let Windows choose ... " then check all all the boxes under "Custom"

that should reset all the visuals back to default

Turn off the web tab on the desktop. This is automatically turned on when you use a background other than .bmp. Such as .jpg or .gif.

Change your theme to "Windows XP", then change your background back to that.
