What drivers are you using ? I would start by updating all your drivers, try running UT with no anti-virus running in the background see if it does the same thing.

I am running the 23.11 drivers and i think i installed them right.

I used the uninstall command but when it restarts my computer,it lists the drivers that were originally on my computer. 12.00's. Still have no clue but used the exe file and now the drivers read 23.11
Anyway, those are the drivers im using

Ok I presume you`re using WinXP and the drivers are the standard Nvidia reference drivers 23.11, if so you can update them by downloading the latest from Nvidia website(29.42) and just run the exe. command to install them ,no need to remove the old drivers,it will update them.

i heard the 23.11 are the best though. They are the fastest. Maybe im mistaken.

Also if this a common happening in Winxp. I though i read somewehre that some games have this same problem in XP

Well driver wise each one is different for each person,I`m using 29.42 drivers at the moment with no problems with my WinXP,I do play UT,CS,DoD,Q3 etc.

Anyway it could be anything that`s causing the crash to desktop, you could try some bios tweaks like disable fastwrites, disable video ram cacheable & disable system bios cacheable,I also like to have all video shadowing off as well in the bios.

I was just playing at 1024x768 with details maxed and it seemed fine. I did use fraps thoguh and saw that during some DM battles (single player) the Framerate drops to around 40 when there is a big battle going on in the open. It usually hovers around 75 but with my setup i think the Rates should be a hellava lot better. My moniter is set at 75hz refresh rate. If there a way to get the Framerates to go higher especially with the sysytem i have?

You can try a few things for faster FPS,like a Vsync off in Nvidia display properties,as for increasing your monitor refresh rate, you can do that manually by setting the refresh you want,be carefull you don`t set it higher then the monitors safe maximum for the chosen res.I presume you`re using some sort of NVrefresh fix like NVRefreshTool 1.0 .

One more thing you might find UT tweak guide handy .

no im not using any fixes as of now. My moniter is set at 1024x768 75hz in windows. How do i check my moniter maximum refresh rate? Could you help me out and give me some things to do that will improve my performance.

Also, my 3d2001 scroe is 6957. If that good for my system? The settings are on 1024x768 32bit no AA

Right click on desktop, this will bring up the display properties panel, then click settings tab then the click advanced button, then monitor tab,you will see the refresh rate there.

to run your monitor higher then 60Hz while in gaming, use the NV refresh tool program (it allows you to go with default options or you can select the refresh you want)above in my last post,(remember it`s not needed for TFT (LCD) monitors).

If you`re not sure of your maximum safe refresh rate ,consult your manual for your monitor or go to their website and look it up.
