WinXP + Games = ??

How do the following games play on it and what is the performance like?

Diablo 2
Tribes 2
Half-life
RedAlert
Q3
UT

Any input?

I have no problems with Half-Life, Quake 3, or UT on Win2k. Only a few FPS slower than 9x.
Never tired any of the others you listed. The only games that will not work are old DOS games, as NT/2K/XP/etc have no DOS support. Just dual boot for those. 🙂

I use XP on a daily basis and here's what I've found.

Diablo 2
no problemo

Half-life
see quake 3

RedAlert
no problems

Q3
no problems (maybe a little less responsive(then 98), better then win2k though)

Works pretty well, software compatibility isn't the biggest gripe about XP right now.
Most of it relates to hardware. With beta 2(build 2562) you'd get random reboots now and then.

Phillips AE sound cards suck in XP. My Nvidia card would freeze the system when exiting an OpenGL game (counter-strike) every once in a while. However, everyday new drivers are released that support XP.

Personally I don't mess with beta operating systems unless I can dual boot or I have a second machine to do it with. When I ran XP Beta 2 I noticed that it ran really nice at first then slowly the stability degraded a lot.
