WinXP: Forcing printer to print in black

To save color ink, in Win2000, I easily controlled this under properties by choosing an option button that said "black/White". On XP, I no longer see this option anywhere under printer properties. Is this setting OS dependent, or printer dependent? (I have changed printers as well) Thanks for any help!

some printers have this setting, some dont. it can either be that you switched printers and/or drivers differ from 2k to xp and they dont have the same options.

That is usually done in Start, Settings, Printers and Faxes. Higlight your printer, and select Printing Preferences. Then select Advanced, and check the box marked Grayscale. That will put your ink jet in a grayscale (B&W) mode.

They key is not to select Properties, but Printing Preferences.
