winxp file sharing

this is the second time this has happened on an XP install:

i installed XP and file sharing was fine with another computer running ME (both with static IP's) until i ran the windows XP networking wizard. now i try to access any files or printers from either computer and i get this message: "Drive is not accessible. You do not have permission to access this network resource. The network path was not found."

this happened from RC2 as well. i know i have a connection still because this computer feeds the internet from the other computer acting as a proxy.

does anyone know what this "wizard" in XP changes? (apart from the IP - i changed that back). it is obviously recking something. oh and when i ran the wizard i made the network setup disk and ran it on the other computer but it didn't make a difference.

thx in advance...

Network sharing and NTFS permissions sucks in WinXP compared to Win2k. Once you share a file/folder, everyone in your workgroup has access to it.

To share a folder (can't with file)
1) right-click the folder
2) select "sharing and security"
2.5) click "If you understand the risk but still want to share the root of the drive, click here" if it exists
3) check "share this folder on the network"
4) choose a share name
5) check "allow network users to change my files" if you want

i tried these things (thanks for the suggestions guys) but it still doesn't help access to the shared folders on the other computer running winME. the key thing is that everything (files, printers) were working b4 using the wizard, but now i get the error msg when even selecting the computer from the network places display.
