i ghosted a ton of discs regularly for a backup, but this has me stumped. i grabbed my daughters wd400 and a maxtor 40gb hooked to my ata133 card booted my sys to dos and cloned disc/disc, when it was done i shutdown, unhooked her discs and proceeded to reinstall one in her puter, got as far as loading drivers in safe mode, mup.sys is last one b4 the blue screen with error 0xfc802640, 0xc000000e the other disc wont do anything at all? took the discs into my other daughters XP machine to verify files, looks like everything there? they are single o/s ntfs with a 3.5gb C:\ 35gbD:\ the recovery console recognizes C:\windows & its files but not certain what could be wrong? part magic7 says one disc part table bad although i can access everything through windows, and disc manager recognizes both partitions? used ghost7 corp never allowed the discs into windows on my puter just dos? anyone have any ideas how to get this disc back to booting up? allthe boot files are there. checkdisc/nothing nope no erd or should i say asr disc, wasnt sure how to make one 4 XP?
thanks any help much appreciated.

If you're lucky maybe it's just a matter of upkating the changed hard drive's GUID for winXP. To do this boot with DOS floppy and run fdisk /mbr - works only on the C: drive.

So let me get this straight...You took a copy of the Winxp install on YOUR machine and are now trying to use it on your DAUGHTERS completely different machine? If that is the case, WinXP ain't gonna let you do it...To much hardware change for the OS to handle and it is coughing up a furball. If you want to put XP on the other machines, you will have to do fresh installs...

EDIT: now that I am awake and reading better,, OR, is it that you copied one drive from HER machine to another and now BOTH disks are hosed? Do you have the jumper settings correct on both drives? You may have to re-install on at least one of the drives to get it going again..
