WinXP Explorer Shell, Some operations slow slow!!

Ok i have two machine at home both with WinXP sp2

1) AMD64 2800+@2.3GHz 1024MB RAM with 7200rpm HDs and so on.
2) Dual 1GHZ P3 with 512MB of RAM with 5400rpm HDs.. and so on.


on machine (1) when i clear my internet cache, or clear my recent history. It has the hour glass for like 20+ seconds then it is done. I looked at my CPU Usage and it is from 0-2% lol, so what in the world is going on.
On machine (2) is has no problem doing anything and no long slow halts.


any idea?

Clearing your internet cache always is a long wait. You don't really need to empty it though. In fact, it's better to use Firefox.

Clearing it is slow because the cache tends to consist of loads upon loads of very small files, removing them takes a little time, this is normal and will depend a lot on HD speed.
