WinXP downloading problem

Has anyone come across this fun error. I try to download a file from a friend through ICQ/MSN/AIM and the system tells me that the hard drive is full. There is 35GB free on this thing.. So that's not it.. Anyone come across this or knows of a solution?

P4 1.8A
ECS P4S5A
512MB PC2100 Crucial DDR
WD 40GB 7200 HD
3Com 3c905c nic
all on an XP system with NTFS.

Would switching to FAT32 fix this problem? Let me know. Thanks

I don't see why FAT32 would fix it. Do what HeSaidWhat said, make sure its all on one partition. Maybe ICQ is saving somewhere else??

Yea,
It's all one 40GB partition.. This is such a strange error, even my friend at Micr$oft is stumped. I was just hoping someone else might have come across this problem. Any ideas? Thanks

Are you running a firewall or is XP setup to protect your internet connection? If either is the case trying turning it off...

Wow, I totally forgot about that.. Would the authentication area cause this problem. I do have the built-in firewall turned off and the problem persists.. Thanks

Ok, the internal firewall wasn't on, and I played with the authentication part of the LAN setup.. No go.
I do have some progress though. I can download small files.. After some testing, I was able to download files up to ~200MB through ICQ/AIM/MSN... But anything larger just won't go.

On another note, I went to try and run scandisk on the hard drive and it is telling me that the drive is being used by another device. What is up with that? Could that be the root of all my problems? Let me know. Thanks for all your help so far. 🙂

Ok, well this is strange.
I installed PC Anywhere on the computer so that I can access it remotely. Bang! I can download any size file I want again in ICQ/MSN/AIM.. Very strange.. Does PC Anywhere reset something in the LAN or TCP/IP stack that was causing this problem? Very strange, but it is fixed. Yay! Thanks for the ideas and help.
