WinXP doesn't detect vidcard at 1st boot, needs 2 boots

I have an ATI Expert 2000 video card on my system. I'm currently running WinXP. I have all the updated drivers but it fails to recognize or initialize my video card at 1st attempt. I have to restart the system to get it to initialize my video card. Can anyone help?

same issue here, I just hit the reset button right after I ever hit the power button....it seems to be more of a BIOS issue than a WinXP issue to me though (Iwill KK266)

Iwill has a problem with AGP slots not supplying enough power. There are some tweaks, but they are hardware, not recommended. Try firmware upgrade first of coarse. You can also try a new vid card, or just RMA.

My specs are:
-1ghz PIII
-Shuttle AV11 VIA
-512 MB SDRAM (256MB CL=2, 256MB CL =3)
-Maxtor 60 GB & WD 20 GB (connected to ATA controller)
-ATI Experter 2000 32MB AGP video card
-power supply is 250watts I believe

Everything worked well in Win98 and ME but doesn't work at 1st try on XP. It used to be that it would occasionally not initialize the video card at 1st boot but now it's everytime on 1st boot.

well it always only takes 1 reboot to get it going & I can hit reset right after I hit the power button, plus I only ever do a cold boot about once every 3 months, so I really don't feel it's worth a RMA 🙂

Some video cards are incompatible with the motherboards PWM ciruit. This is suppose to be a Nvidia Geforce issue only but I have run into the same problem with the TNT line and ATI Radeons also from time to time. You can do a hardwire mod to your mainboard so that the apg buss always gets 3.3 VIO to eliminate the issue if you want to go to that much trouble.

Most Geforces have this problem. I tryed to put in a PCI Radeon, but get terrible blue screens. What you can do is try disable all the advance AGP options like 4x, fastwrite, ect.

I mean first i thought something was wrong but after getting feed up i booted it and thought hmm maybe its being stupid and slapped in svid and jackedit into my TV afer i booted it with the monitor conencted only and what do you know the stupid things been booting into TV on the first boot and on the reboot it tried vga :frown: i don't know why either rather annoying! 😕 But it stop when i got a new monitor and set it to something other then the plug and play one or whatever it was! 😛
