WinXP: Disabling Auto-Install during Bootup?

Hey all,

I'm trying to install the latest drivers for an ATI videocard that I have, though when I uninstall the old drivers and reboot, XP automatically finds the hardware and installs microsoft-certified drivers! I definitely don't want that. :|

How could I disable this autoinstall wizard? It doesn't ask to install drivers, it just does it on it's own. No "have disk" option at all. 😕

Win98's plug&play feature was much easier 😛

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks.

I think you're fine. Uninstall the old drivers, reboot, run the new driver install program. The new drivers should install on top of the default drivers just fine.

Thanks, MrChad. I wish that were the case w/my PC. I had to do a series of uninstalls/reboots/installs before the ATI driver kicked in.
