WinXP, Deleting all but most recent restore points

OS Windows XP home edition SP2.

I used to be able to use the disk cleanup utility
and have an option to delete all but the most
recent restore points. There were two tabs,
one for regular disk cleanup and another for
other functions such as deleting restore points as
described above. Somewhere along the line something
happened and now there is only one tab for the
regular disk cleanup function.

For this reason, I can no longer find this option
when I run disk cleanup either from the
accessories/system tools menu or by right clicking
the drive I want to clean up.

Can someone tell me how to re-enable the function
in disk cleanup to delete all but the most recent
restore point?

You can always go into system restore properties turn off system restore. Which will what you want to do clear all restore points. Then turn it back on.
