WinXP CPU usage question

I play this online game and I run two instances of it at the same time.

My old system did a pretty good job of doing this (1 gig athlon w/512 megs of PC100 and a geforce 2 ti running win98se) but the new one (amdxp 2600 333 w/512 megs of PC2700 and the same video card running winXP) can barely do it. It seems as though the system processes the window that is active more than the one that isn't (if that makes any sense).

Does winXP commit more cpu usage to active windows than inactive windows? If so, is there a way to change that?

Thanks in advance!

you could probably change the program priority by upping the program priority

playing with it too much may cause a problem though since it makes windows not give enough time to other processes

(it assumes that the active windows is the most important, so it gives it the most cpu time to run, which is generally what people want)

i dont remember how to do this though, and its 5 am so figuring it out right now wouldnt get me too far 😛

Yes it does. Change the scheduling from Programs to Background services (somewhere in the system properties area, not worth a reboot to find it's exact location).
