Okay, I am planing to replace my CPU, Mobo, and RAM along with adding a CDR drive. Can I leave the WinXP installation on my main hard disk and boot up with all the new stuff? or should I wipe the drive clean and start all over with new stuff, and call M$.

With XP, you will have to wipe the drive and start fresh. XP just does not like to have that many components changed at one time and freaks out. Usually, it will just lock up after POST. IF, you have to call MS to re-activate, it is not that much of a big deal and do remember that you have 30 days to get the bugs all worked out before you need to activate anyway.
