winxp cd missing files??

so I tried to reformat my laptop and reinstall my win xp.

in the process of 'copying files(from the 20% mark)' I started getting messages saying that a bunch of files cannot be copied(a bunch of the files were .dll's and other extensions).

it gave me the option to 'retry' 'skip' or 'quit.'

retry would not work as I still got the same errors.
I tried to skip all the files but at the very end, I get an error, something about internal error.
quitting is an option, but since my OS was already erased, there's no point in quitting it.

what could be the problem that winxp would not install??

any ideas?

I have also seen where memory can cause this issue. I added a stick of memory and reinstalled 2kPro years ago, had file copy issues that were related to memory. The memory was fine once the OS was installed, but I had to pop it out to install 2kPro. didn't ever run memtest to see if it showed errors (this was when I was an infant geek)

Yeah - I've seen the same issues due to faulty memory.

As others have said, bad cd, bad reader, bad cable, bad memory, too overclocked... It's most likely one of those 🙂 I'd start with the easiest, try another cd if you have one.
