I get the error when I restart the system and it tries to check my HDD and I cant figure out why. I need to be able to fix bad sectors and defrag because some of the software on my system is now corrupt and unusable and I get errors trying to reinstall or delete them. Any ideas? THANKS... Matt

since none of us work for microsoft.. and none of us know what OS youre using.. its best to direct these types of archaic error messages to the microsoft Knowledge Base.. microsoft.com/support there you can fill it up with all sorts of goofy error message that will bring up some help.. if that does work.. try the newsgroups... sometimes more helpful then the KB itself... also there is an OS forum that you can put this type of post in...

to take a stab at your answer.. you need to either

a: get a win98 boot disk and try to run scandisk from that
b: get a disgnosis tool from your HD manufacturer to ensure there is no damage that will be unrecoverable from
c: keep skipping the disk check 😀
