[WinXP] cannot see mapped drive in "my computer"

please help,

i can map a network drive out to my server in widowsXP pro and it opens up the folder on the server as soon as i make the connection. the problem is when i open up My Computer i do not see the network drive. i can go into My Network Places and navigate to the folder on the server but "no go" in My Computer even if i do a hard restart.

i have tweaked the services pretty hard on this machine. could i have turned off a service that would allow network mapping?

i have another xp pro machine that does not do this. it maps and reconnects at logon with no problem. it has not been tweaked at all in regards to any of the services.

the server is a system running win2k pro

please help.... i am getting too many grey hairs from this seemingly simple problem.

thanks
mark

open the run dialog and put in the drive letter, ie:
start>run>"x:"

if the drive comes up than it means it's not getting displayed in my computer and I think you can get it back with TweakUI, if the drive does not come up than it doesnt sound like it's mapped correctly.
