Hi folks,

I've been hit with a very weird error msg in WinXP SP2 without any error code. It just says "Hardware Malfunction. Contact Hardware Vendor." I noticed that right before the BSOD appears, my monitor goes to power savings mode. Initially I suspected that it was a memory failure, but Memtest86 didn't pick up anything after 2 passes. Could this be a gfx card problem? If so, are there any diagnostics tool out there I can confirm this?

Forgot to mention that if I have WinAmp loaded, songs playing will stutter as if the system has hung for 1-2 seconds occassionally.

For the record, here's my system config:

Epox 8KHA+ (KT266A)
MSI GeForce Ti4200
512MB RAM

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Tried using Ubuntu 6.06. Although the PC didn't reboot, X dies all of a sudden and restarts. I guess it really is a gfx card problem.
