i can't seem to network my 2 PCs with XP Pro SP1a and ME on the other. i'm only using a direct cable connection, no hubs. cable is configured for PC to PC. have tried evreything and stilll cannot share files between the two. anybody got a proceedure on how to work this out?
If you get a crossover cable or a hub you will have to assign IP addresses to them both on the same network
like
192.168.1.10
192.168.1.20
Also you will need to make sure each computer has a name. which can be found in the system properties
and to make it easiest make sure they are on the same workgroup
Then share a folder out with full permission and go to network neighborhood or
start run and type \\computernameurtryingtogetfilesfrom
