WinXP and via kt133a

i seem to have massive lag when i open or close programs. duron 800, 256mb of ram on the epox kt133a mb, forgot which model #, using onboard sound, mx200 agp, and ethernet card. my hds show that they are running at ata100 so i don't think its the hd, anyone else have lag when some programs are opened and closed, lag as in i have to wait sometimes up to a minute. thanks.

I'm not an expert. and i'm not running XP myself, but i think i read somewhere that the WinXP likes big internal caches.
And the Duron are not overequipped in that department.
Also using onboard sound !!! ( That's more work for the processor is'nt it )

heyy, my PC is almost the same config and i got no problem. but try this:

Start --> Run type: sfc /help

purge your cache and the rebuild it (preferably 100 - 250 MB), default WinXP cache size is around 300-400 MB
