WinXP and IE6 = Bad Combo.

I had 98SE with IE6 and no problems. Now with XP, IE6 very frequently gives me an error message which closes my IE window. Its the message that asks to send a report to Microsoft or not. Is this just my setup or is this happening to anyone else? How do I fix this junk?

Have 3 machines running XP and IE6 without problems.
I do think i remember early on having problems, but I think it was due some software we were using.
no problems at this time.

It's definitely unusual. Most posts I've seen suggest that XP is the only Windows version that handles IE6 well. Does IE hang at specific web pages, or types of pages (javascript, secure, etc.)? Do you have all the Windows Updates? If you're updated, and IE hangs without any noticeable pattern, that's strange. I could only guess that some key files got corrupted somewhere, and you might need to use the IE repair function (somewhere under Network Options, I think).

Likewise - plus three other machines I have done for friends. If you can't find the IE6 repair function, you might also just reinstall XP over itself in the upgrade/repair mode. That fixed some problems on two computers I take care of.

Yeh, XP and IE6 come bundled together, Ive built over 10 systems and neither have any problems, I also have several NT4 Servers and 2000 server/pros with IE6 and no problems.
Sounds like a hiccup in your config or install maybe>?

Why do I get the feeling you upgraded from 98 to XP?

XP and IE6 come bundled together. I've never had a problem and I provide support for this crap.

what the hell are you guys talking about when you say XP and IE6 are bundled together so they must work fine. IE has always been bundled with Windows since 95.
hey Smilin, i'm guessin you got that felling because you read my first post.

They meant XP comes with IE "6" - no other MS OS was bundled with version 6 - I beleive they meant that it was more likely for XP NOT to have issues with a brower that is native than downloading say IE6 with win98se...

what about pressing "send report" instead of cancel. is any personal info sent to Microsoft? Does Microsoft actually look at these reports?
