WinXP and CD-ROM problem

My problem is that WinXP seems to be "remembering" CDs that were in the drive. For exampe, in my computer it shows that in my drive is the MS Office CD - it has the icon, the CD properties say how much space is used, etc. But there is no CD in the drive. What is causing this, and what can I do?

My CD-ROM problem with XP is even worst

Check this out, if I burn my CD in Nero, sometime the entire CDRW just stop responding at 80%
I thought maybe the CDRW died,

But once I dual boot back to Win98, the very same ISO burn just FINE???????

_____________Now the problem has spread

Under XP, after 15minutes of playing Starcraft - my cdrw just stop - naturally this just HANG the entire OS as hostage

So, once again, I had to reboot back to Win98......

Guess what, NO PROBLEM WITH WIN98......

Maybe this Devil's Own Corporate Release has some imps to exorcist
