Is the modem plug&play?

If not then plug it in the isa slot. Download the proper drivers and then unpack them and run the install if there is one. Maybe XP finds the modem. If not then choose detect new hardware in control panel. If it finds nothing it should give you a list of hardware to install. Choose modem, then choose have disk. Point it to the unpacked drivers. It should detect and install the modem.

It would also help if you listed the exact modem you have.

I can't find any drivers for it. Its kind of old. In Win 98 in the control panel its listed as the U.S. Robotics 56K FAX INT. Where would I find drivers?

Well it should work fine since US Robotics say so [/i] >>

Note: Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP includes drivers for many U.S. Robotics products. Click here to see a list of drivers included. Check back periodically for updates if your driver is not included in either version of Windows or if it does not appear on this page. [/i] >>

list

<< Many U.S. Robotics modems are listed in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The modems listed below with the will install on Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP with basic modem functionality. >>

U.S. Robotics 56K Fax Internal ISA is listed as compatible with XP.

I noticed that too, and it still is having issues. I installed it as the standard modem and I put on all the com ports cause I didn't know which one it was for sure, and nothing. If you have any ideas throw my way.

Try using only one com port, have a look in System Information then click on the modem branch it should give you info on com port etc it`s using, also click the problem devices branch and see what`s in there.
