WINXP Administrator password problems

Here's the deal. I installed WINXP OEM on a box and setup a password for the Administrator account. I created one user account and gave it a password. After getting into windows and doing some updates and rebooting a time or two, I was looking at the user accounts and realized the user account I had created had administrator rights. Recognizing that was not good, I changed that account to a Limited access account. I rebooted after installing a application and logged on as that user. I realized that I was not finished with the applications, so I logged off and tried to logon as Administrator but I can't. Won't accept the password. I wrote it down! I'm positive I'm not mistyping it. I've tried the booting into Safe mode to access the Admin account but it still won't accept the password. When I log on as the use account, it doesn't show that there is a Administrator account from the User menu in control panel.

Have I screwed up big time here? Did I actually change the name and nature of the Admin account and it doesn't exist any longer? What can I do?

Thanks,

You can't delete the built-in Administrator account. It's still there. But it doesn't show up with some configurations of XP (like Home).

As Slikkster said, if you don't know the Administrator password, you'll have to reset it with a Linux-based utility. Once you've done it once or twice, it's pretty easy.
