Office apps? It's fine.
Artwork? I wouldn't mess with it.
My experiences with cheaper LCDs (and really all LCDs in general) is that the colors are never quite right. Again, those are my experiences. I haven't seen every LCD out there.
I have a 17" eMachines LCD and it works just fine for browsing, etc. I keep my Viewsonic CRT on the left for gaming and the LCD on the right for browising.
sounds good, my main anoianc with my crt is that its too big to set in the middle of mdesk....
So its sets of to the left at like an angle..I have surround sound, which this screws up the perspective, like im allways looking ath the left speaker, and ill think somedude in an EAX game is like right infront of me, when he really way of to the left.
Anyways, i just wanted to pick one u pfor a few bucks to see how it werkd out.
Looks like a great deal, although I've never heard of wintergreen. It looks like they also have the Wintergreen CMV CT-723D monitor for the same price (after rebate) and it has a DVI connector and a better contrast ratio - I'd get this instead.
The specs aren't bad, either: 16ms response, 16.7m colors. It could end up with some dead pixels though, so you might want to check up on their dead pixel policy before you buy.
This monitor from them for $279 after rebate looks good, too: DCL by Sceptre / DCL9A / 19-Inch / SXGA / 700:1 / Black / LCD Monitor w/ Speakers
It has less of a rebate ($50 instead of $70) and it's only $90 more for 19in.
I'm also not too familiar with tiger direct rebates, but I've read around a bit and see that quite a few people haven't gotten their rebates from them.
