Going on a trip on Dec 20th. My wife has never seen snow and I wanted to surprise her by bringing her a little further north than she expects.

How far north will I have to go to see snow right before christmas? Any suggestions for what city we should visit to have plenty to do?

:)

New York? Not NYC unless you really want to. I was thinking the Alleghany/Chautauqua
region. Then again, idk what you'd do at that time of year, but none the less.

Dude, nothing beats New York at that time. It may or may not snow (judging by the mild weather we're having right now, I'm leaning towards no snow), but I never get tired of the city during the holidays. The decorations, the shopping, etc. You could always do a couple days in the city and rent a place at Hunter Mountain for a couple more days to see some snow.

Well I figure we could spend a day trying to snowboard and killing ourselves and theres always hanging out by a fire! I dunno either but my wife really wants to see snow, and seeing as we are currently in Florida I dont think it is going to come to us ;)

Not many places you could guarantee snow south of NY that time of year as it has that rather obvious dependency on precipitation and it being cold enough. Why not head up into the Poconos in PA? Plenty of mountains around and the higher elevation means a greater chance of snow and if not you can always head to a ski resort where they make it.
