Winter storage for water-fille basketball net

Anyone have one of these? I have a pretty nice one, real heavy base.

Was thinking about what to do for the winter. Drain and store it? Leave it? Pour some antifreeze in it??

I recall a warning for ours about that, something about some brands reacting badly with the material the base was made out of, and eating the plastic housing.

Just called Huffy and they claim to add 2 gallons of non-toxic antifreeze...

Decisions, decisions...

I live in Massachusetts.

Depends where you live. Antifreeze is only good to certain temps.

Well, yeah, but we do have cars here in Massachusetts with antifreeze... 🙂

I believe non-toxic anti-freeze is used for pools... maybe try a pool shop?

I wouldn't put anti-freeze in it. In the spring, you'll either have to leave the anti-freeze in their (instead of replacing it with water) or having to drain the anti-freeze and properly discard it.

Problem with sand is it's impossible to drain if you need to move it, etc.

I see no problem keeping the antifreeze in for at least a couple of years, but that's why they recommend non-toxic anyway - you can just drain it.
