69F in here. I had the heat on for a couple of hours earlier in the week when I came home from work and it was ~63F inside.

55, all windows open, feels great. Wish fall didn't take so damn long to arrive this year, undoubtedly it'll be gone in like a month too.

78F? That comes up to 25C. I'm pretty much visibly sweating at that temp especially if I do anything remotely physical. I rarely let my house get that hot. I've clocked the ceiling of my server room at around 27C at some times though during a heat wave. Mining rig will tend to do that. :p It's been dropping below zero at night here. Leaves are changing colour and Canada geese are heading south. Downside is that with global warming and all that our falls are still rather mild and instead of getting the snow we would normally get we just get tons of rain and it can be quite depressing. Can't really do anything outside and even when the rain stops for a short while, everything is too wet.

In winter I let the house drop to like 12 when I'm sleeping, or not home. That's 54 Frankenstein. :p

54F is way too cold! Can't be good for your immune system.

In my home the typical warm period thermostat settings from second floor down into the finished basement is 69ºF/73-74/77. And on the first day of Autumn it was 94ºF here in my suburb of Atlanta Georgia with a heat index of 98ºF. Fall is just Second Summer down here. I probably won't wear pants (compared to shorts) until late December or January.

I set the thermostat in my residence to 80-81 degrees while I'm at work. I came home yesterday, and it was 78 degrees in my abode

Even 73F is pretty damn high for a room temp... our house temp is below 70F pretty much the whole time unless it's summertime.

Are you sure you guys aren't living in an old peoples' home? You make me feel like a proper British northerner (where it's typical in winter months to see guys out on the piss wearing t-shirts or something similar), yet they'd probably laugh their asses off at me.

I'm comfortable at 75 just frolicking around in my apartment fully dressed during the day or nude under my 25 degree sleeping bag with the fan on at night. My combined electric + gas bill was only $83 which is pretty good for September. Average daily use of 15.8KWH per day. I was gone for maybe 2 days this month. My bills are higher in the depths of winter since I have to crank up the thermostat to 80 (gas heating). I have a new HVAC system as of June so we'll see how performance goes.

I've got gas central heating too (AC isn't normal to have in the UK though), I know of no reason to have the heating so high, the only minimum I'm aware of is to ensure that water doesn't freeze in the pipes.

I kinda gathered that :) No, it seemed to me that you implied there was a technical reason to keep the house at that temperature (ie. whatever form of heating system you have doesn't work well in certain scenarios) ther than personal preference.

Not meaning anything negative by this, but are you a tad sedentary in lifestyle and/or getting on a bit? My 80-something parents routinely have the temperature that high and I usually end up wearing a t-shirt rather than the usual multiple layers I wear at home. If I had to sleep in such an environment I think I'd be sweating buckets every night.

It's 9C here right now. Autumn is most definitely here. Along with the rain.

Negative, just bad insulation.

Shit’s getting real next weekend. Lows in the 50s, highs in low 60s. Gotta search for my coat so I’m prepared.

Supposed to be 68 Tuesday. Pisses me off. Shouldn't be that hot this time of year. I still have some windows open in the house. It was 59 this morning inside. When it's consistently <55 inside, I'll close the windows, and when it gets in the 40s, I'll turn the heat on.

It's been warm here. Our snow keeps melting. I should probably get my christmas lights up soon and change my tires. Today would be a good day for that since I'm off, but I'm here neffing instead. :p
