Do you have Microsoft's Media Player 7 on your machine? I have no idea what your problem is, but if you do have MediaPlayer 7 I would be very surprised if it is not somehow a part of the problem. I had a video capture card that wouldn't do jack after installing that thing, and there isn't even any way to uninstall it other than reinstalling windows on top of itself and going through all kinds of complicated procedures to put ie in a seperate folder, blah blah. It was an intractible pain. I hope this is not your problem and that somebody can help you out.
