WinSAT suddenly running in the middle of things?

When I was using my computer last night, the screen went black for a second, and then the desktop theme changed to "Basic", and my BOINC project said "Suspended - CPU busy".

I opened task manager, and the CPU usage was going between 20% to 100%. Very strange.

Thought perhaps I suddenly had a virus on the system or something.

Looked at processes, sorted by CPU usage, and WinSAT came up.

I was like, WTF?

I guess WinSAT runs every week to benchmark your computer? Seems like a waste of CPU cycles to me.

I had the same thing, so seeing your post I decided to poke around Windows Task Scheduler. Turns out WinSAT by default at 1AM every Sunday.
