WinSAT Crashes ATi Drivers?

Aikouka

WinSAT is a System Assessment Tool that is set to run every Sunday morning at 1 AM.

My drivers have crashed multiple times at 1 AM on Sunday and looking at AMD Overdrive (on the CCC) showed very high GPU usage (~80% or higher).

Anyone else ever run into this problem? It seems to only occur if I have a game or a video open when WinSAT starts running. I turned it off in Task Manager, so hopefully I will be crash free 😛.

Yeah, I didn't notice WinSAT the first time, but I did notice the abnormally high GPU usage. This time I took a look at what was actually running and quickly disabled that thing.

Some other late night gamers or even computer users might want to disable it as well. Like I mentioned, it even crashed the drivers while I was watching a video in Media Player Classic - Home Cinema (which also crashed MPC-HC).

To turn it off, open Task Scheduler and go to:

Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Maintenance

What seems odd is that it's only supposed to run if the system is idle for 10 minutes, but it definitely came on while I was playing a game.
