Wins Server is there a need in win2k

I was wondering if there is a need for a wins server in a network that only has win2k servers and win2k workstation. Is the name resolution going to be handled by the DNS server?

Well, that all depends on what other software packages you use. Do you have any database applications that require NETBIOS? Do you have any other apps that require NTEBIOS? If you do, you cannot just get rid of WINS or NETBIOS for that matter.

Yes, DNS is used for name resolution in Windows 2000. If you do not have any other NETBIOS apps, then you can remove WINS.
