WINS Server and Clients

I am having a problem getting my clients listed in my WINS Server (NT 4). My DHCP server is broadcasting the WINS server address correctly, which I have verified on the clients. The clients are configured to use DHCP for WINS resolution. But the clients are not showing up in the database. If I set the a WINS server address on the client it gets listed. However, if the address of the server changes then the clients will need to be updated. So I would prefer to use DHCP for the WINS resolution.

This issue isn't causing any problem for the local lan thanks to broadcasts, but it is a problem for RAS connections. I can get around it with static mappings in the WINS database but if an IP changes the database needs to be updated manually.

Anyone know what could be wrong?

Why don't you just configure the WINS server with a static IP? That way you don't have to worry about it!

Tell me why and maybe I can help...

The sever does have a static ip. I guess the real problem is we don't want to have to go and reconfigure all of our clients, they are currently set to use DHCP for WINS resolution, but they aren't shoing up in the database.
