sourceforge.net lists 7 Zip which does indeed open .rars although I was unsatisfied with the UI. Just search for rar or 7-zip

Neither WinRAR nor Winzip is free.

I use IZArc. It opens just about anything including self extracting archives and is free.

what are you talking about? I've been using both for years and never paid a cent.

Been using WinRar or 3-4 years, never paid anything. You just have to close a small nag window, not much of a hassle for such a great app.

winrar is nagscreen ware. it's awesome.

wouldn't it be cool if winrar was free trial and after the trial was over, it didn't support RAR. lol.
