WinRAR/WinZIP

Hey. Sorry for wrong forum but i need an answer quickly. I bought WinRAR and WinZIP, and when i compress a series of files into one (without compression is 33mb) it is still 33mb... How come? I need it to lower the size.

edit: i tried compressing other files as well, it still didnt do it.

text files compress very well. vid, music and other multimedia don't.

winace does the best in compression though

Did you try changing compression settings to 'best'?

Compresses files don't compress very well. .PDFs are basically images, which are compressed already.

BMP can almost compress down to around PNG size with zip/winrar.
Who still uses winzip nowadays now that windows has a zip utility built into the shell?
