Winona verdict reached... GUILTY

I think I don't freaking understand why they even accused such a rich woman. They should've been overawed and let her go. I mean, WTH? Who can accuse Winona of anything? They must be frigging nuts!

I'm expecting a ridiculous $500 fine, probation for 6 - 36 months and a few hours of "community service".

In other words a slap on the wrist.

I seem to remember reading that she is the only person prosecuted in LA this year for felony shoplifting, and frankly it seems slightly silly to me to expend this amount of time and money on such a minor case. Even if she is convicted she will probably receive community service and/or a fine. I remain dumbstruck by the fact that Peter Guber, who had hired her for three different films, was allowed to stay on the jury. We shall see . . .

Not guilty or guilty with a small fine..this is California after all.

I still think they need to do a full body cavity search to make sure she is not hiding any more stolen goods. If they don't want to, I'm sure they could find a volunteer here.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Fine her, make her do community service, but this whole trial is a freaking joke.

Okay, I'm not the most up to speed guy on this whole thing, but didn't they get her shoplifting on the security camera? Seems open and shut to me. Sentencing is what it should come down to.

many stars have "open" tabs on clothes; if that was the case (which was one defense) then it's not so simple.

What's that mean? They can steal stuff and get away with it?

No, it means they take stuff without paying for it & then either pay for it or return it later.
